Game Regulations

PRE-GAME AND SCHEDULING

  1. All games may start and be completed with three players.
  2. Warm-up for both teams will occur before the start of each game.
  3. Only those teams scheduled to play are allowed to occupy the court at the scheduled time.
  4. Players must be at their court at the scheduled game time.
  5. There is No Eating or Drinking allowed during warm ups or games.

TIME-OUTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

  1. Each team is allowed (1) one-30 second time-out per game.
  2. Player substitution will be permitted during any dead ball situation.

LIVE BALL/DEAD BALL POSSESSION

Resuming the Game
    1. A coin flip before the start of the game will determine who gets the ball out-0f-bounds first.
    2. The basketball will change possession after each scored basket (I.e. "no possession"/"no make it take it").
    3. Jump balls will be called by the Referee and will go to the defense.
    4. Before the ball is put into play, it must be checked by an opposing player.  Also, the player must pass the ball in from out-of-bounds at the top of the court to begin play.
    5. All fouls and violations must be played out-of-bounds at the top of the court
    6. Balls that are out-of-bounds will be taken at the top of the court.
"Taken Back"
    1. On every changed possession, the ball must be "taken back" to the marked line on each court. "Taking back" means that both feet and ball are behind the "take-back" line. A violation will occur if a basket is made after failing to properly "take it back". As a result, the points are lost and the possession of the ball goes back to the other team. If the ball is not "taken back" and advanced, then any other violation (common, offensive, intentional, flagrant or technical foul) called by the official will be honored. Exception: If a player is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the basket prior to properly "taking it back", then the foul will be honored; however, no points will be awarded.
"Clearing the ball"
    1. The ball must be cleared whether the shot attempt hits the backboard or is an air ball.
    2. 8-Second Rule. When taking the ball out-of-bounds, a player shall have eight (8) seconds to put the ball into play. Similarly, a player shall have eight (8) seconds to initiate any free throw attempt. In either case, the Referee is responsible for determining when a violation occurs which will result in a loss of possession of the ball.

Any infraction of these regulations will result in the loss of possession of the ball.

NEW! Jewelry (earrings, rings, watches, etc...), hats, bandanas, and/or casts are not allowed to be worn by players during tournament games. Any player that refuses to remove any such item prior to play, is not eligible to participle in that game.
