Rules of Play

  • No hands – unless you’re the goalie or attempting a throw-in
  • Throw-ins – when the ball crosses the sidelines and goes out of play. A player from the team that didn’t kick the ball out of play is awarded with the ball. The player must keep both feet on the ground, using both hands to throw the ball straight overhead and back into play.
  • Goal and corner kicks – A goal kick is when the offensive player kicks the ball out of play behind the goal line. The defensive player takes a goal kick inside the goal box. A corner kick is when the defensive player kicks the ball out of play behind the goal line. The offensive team takes a corner kick from the corner nearest to where the ball left the field.
  • Free kick – If a player commits a foul or a hand ball the referee will award the other team a free kick.
  • Game in play – the ball is on the field inside of bounds. (marked by pylons) The only exceptions is when the referee calls a foul or an offside.
  • Offside rule for H2S tournament – Offensive player must be in-front or beside last defensive player until the offensive player kicks the ball towards the goal. Offside rule will NOT be strictly enforced. (to avoid “cherry picking”)
  • Fouls It is the referee’s responsibility to monitor safe play and fouls. A player cannot kick, trip, jump at, charge, strike, push or hold an opponent. If a player fouls another player, the player who was fouled is awarded a free kick.
  • Final game How to decide a winner. Penalty kicks (everyone gets a shot)

Please note that the remaining game rules will be explained and or demonstrated at the start of each game.
